Rajnath Singh is going to bring that 'strength' from Russia?
Defence minister rajnath singh has left for a three-day visit to russia yesterday on sunday (8 december 2024), where he will witness the launch of a stealth warship of the indian Navy and hold talks with his Russian counterpart Andrey Belousov on expanding bilateral cooperation in co-production of military equipment. The Russian-built multi-role stealth guided missile frigate INS Tushil will be launched in the coastal city of Kaliningrad on Monday.
Considered as one of the most technologically advanced frigates worldwide, the warship is expected to significantly enhance the operational capability of the indian Navy in the indian Ocean. This is an area where increasing activities of china have been seen. Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi will accompany Singh at the launch ceremony. An official statement on saturday (7 december 2024) said that Defense minister Singh will be on an official visit to russia from 8 to 10 December. It said that rajnath singh and Belousov will co-chair the 21st meeting of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-M&MTC) in moscow on december 10.

The Defense Minister's visit to russia is taking place five months after prime minister Narendra Modi's visit to moscow and summit talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In the talks, both sides decided to further strengthen bilateral defense relations. According to a release issued by the Defense Ministry, Singh and Belousov will review the entire range of multidata-faceted relations between the two countries in the field of defense, including military and industrial cooperation. It said, "They will also exchange views on contemporary regional and global issues of mutual interest."
