USA Visa Crisis - A Glimmer Of Hope For Indian Families

G GOWTHAM
The US Senate is considering a new bill for immigrant families that would address the nation's visa problems. If the measure passes, the community will greatly benefit as millions of indians strive for the American dream. By "recapturing" unused visas from prior years, the Reuniting Families Act would increase per-country family-based immigration restrictions and provide additional visas. Many families who have been split up by interminable backlogs and who ultimately choose to enter the nation illegally rather than through authorized channels may find some respite from this.

As part of this proposal, it also seeks to broaden the definition of a family to include unmarried children under 21. Additionally, same-sex partnerships are granted a legitimate position when applying for family visas, expanding opportunities for the LGBTQ+ population. Backlogs have kept indian families in limbo for decades, leaving them unsure of their future. When red tape keeps a person's loved ones away, even accepting their Green Card application is nothing.

In the meantime, indian laborers continue to contribute significantly to the US economy, therefore this visa wait is quite insulting. This reform offers to ease some of the community's concerns, but it is not a comprehensive answer.
