Kerala medical waste dumped in tamil Nadu..!?
The Southern Zonal Green Tribunal has condemned the dumping of kerala medical waste in tamil Nadu and has ordered the kerala officials to appear in person. Lorries of meat waste and medical waste are being brought from kerala in tirunelveli and tenkasi districts in bags and dumped. The bags coming from Nagercoil were dumped in the Radhapuram, Panagudi, and Nanguneri blocks of tirunelveli district. The medical waste in the trucks coming from tenkasi was dumped in Kadayam and Alankulam blocks. The day before yesterday, medical waste brought from kerala has been dumped in bags on government-owned lands in Nadukallur and Pazhavur areas near Seethapalpanallur in tirunelveli for the past two days. There was strong opposition to this. The Nellai district Collector had warned that strict action would be taken against those involved.
In this situation, the Southern Zonal Green Tribunal conducted an inquiry in this regard. At that time, it condemned the dumping of kerala medical waste in tamil Nadu and ordered the kerala government to bear the cost of its removal. It has also ordered that senior officials of the kerala Pollution Control Board be present in person and provide an explanation.
