Amir Jangoo receives first Test call-up for West Indies' Pakistan trip squad announcement

For the two-match series against pakistan, which starts in Karachi on january 16, batter Amir Jangoo has been called up for the first time to the west indies Test team.

Gudakesh Motie, a left-arm spinner, rejoins the team after missing last month's home series against Bangladesh.

cricket west indies (CWI) reports that Alzarri Joseph is unavailable because of "other engagements," while Shamar Joseph is out with shin splints, which also prevented him from playing in the ODI series against bangladesh earlier this month."Motie rejoins the squad to strengthen the spin attack, while Jangoo's selection is a reflection of his consistent performances across formats in regional cricket and his strong ability to handle spin bowling," west indies head coach Andre Coley said. Jangoo earned his spot after an impressive domestic four-day season in 2023–24, where he amassed 500 runs in five matches at an average of 63.50, including two hundreds and a fifty, making him Trinidad & Tobago's highest run-scorer."For the Test series against pakistan in january 2025, our focus is on building upon our strengths and converting the lessons from 2024 into tangible success."

The remainder of the team is very much the same. Joshua Da Silva, a batsman and wicketkeeper, will be the team's deputy captain, alongside Kraigg Brathwaite. The core of the batting order consists of Justin Greaves, Keacy Carty, Alick Athanaze, and Mikyle Louis.

Kemar Roach will lead the assault in the fast-bowling division, with Jayden Seales and Anderson Phillip providing support.The tour marks West Indies' first Test series in pakistan in over 18 years, their last appearance being in november 2006. While they data-faced pakistan in a Test series in the uae in october 2016, they have not played on Pakistani soil since then. This series will also conclude the ongoing World Test championship (2023-25) cycle. The 15-member west indies squad will leave for pakistan on january 2 and arrive in Islamabad on january 6. The first Test is scheduled from january 16-20 in Karachi, followed by the second Test in Multan from january 24-28.West Indies team for Test matches against Pakistan
