Former prime minister manmohan singh passed away on december 26 at the age of 92 at Delhi's All india Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Messages of condolence flooded in from global leaders and dignitaries who highlighted his pivotal role as the designer of India's economic reforms and his dedication to fostering stronger international collaborations.


US Secretary of State Antony Blinken referred to manmohan singh as a "champion of the US-India strategic partnership" and noted his influence in promoting the Civil Nuclear Cooperation Agreement. He remarked, "Dr Singh's leadership established the groundwork for much of what our nations have achieved together over the last twenty years. Domestically, Dr Singh will be remembered for his economic reforms that ignited rapid growth in India. We grieve Dr Singh's passing and will forever honor his commitment to strengthening the bond between the united states and India."


Former Maldivian President Abdulla shahid reminisced about manmohan Singh's visit to the maldives in 2011, sharing in a post on X (formerly Twitter), "I cherish his visit to the maldives in 2011 when I, as the then Speaker of Parliament, invited him to address a session of the Majlis—the first to be attended by a Head of State/Government. I also recall our discussions during my initial term as foreign minister in 2007. I gained much from his insights and wisdom. He was always a friend to the Maldives. May he rest in peace, and may his family and loved ones find solace in the enduring legacy he has created. My heartfelt condolences to the people and government of india on this loss."


Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai regarded manmohan singh as "one of India's most remarkable sons" and as an "unfailing ally and friend to the people of Afghanistan." Russian Ambassador to india Denis Alipov characterized the news of manmohan Singh's passing as a time of "deep sorrow and mourning for both india and Russia," noting, "Dr manmohan Singh's contributions to our bilateral relations were beyond measure. His charming personality was always appealing, just as his expertise as an economist and his dedication to India's progress were unquestionable."
