In a worldwide passport rating, India's score fell five spots to 85 this year. india is rated 85th in the Henley Passport ranking, which was announced on wednesday by the citizenship advice business Henley & Partners. singapore is still at the top of the ranking for the second year in a row.
 
India is ranked 85th on the 2025 index. In 2024, the nation ranked 80th in the world. A data graphic on the company's website shows that, for the years 2006–2025, India's ranking was at its lowest point in 2021 (90th), and its highest point in 2006 (71st).
 
What Is Henley Passport Index?
The Henley Passport Index is the only one of its type based on unique data from the international Air Transport Authority (IATA), and it has 19 years of historical data. According to its website, the index has 227 distinct vacation locations and 199 distinct passports. The index is intended to serve as the common reference for ranking the nations' passports.
Rankings Of Other Countries
Bangladesh and Pakistan, India's neighbors, are placed 100th (97th in 2024) and 103rd (101st in 2024) in the Henley Passport Index, respectively. china moved up to 60th place from 62nd place in 2024, while the united states dropped from 7th place to 9th place in 2025. After holding the top spot from 2018 to 2023, Japan's rating was in second place this year. singapore and japan were tied for first place in 2024. china is one of the largest climbers in the index, moving up from 94th position in 2015 to 60th in 2025, while the US is the biggest faller over time.
