A passenger jet collided with the US Army's Helicopter - 18 Dead
The passenger plane was traveling from Wichita, Kansas, to Washington, with 60 passengers and 4 staff members on board, according to American Airlines. PSA airlines operated the flight. Following the incident, officials said, all takeoffs and landings from the airport near Washington have been suspended. Only around five kilometers south of the white house and the Capitol, the event took place in some of the world's most strictly regulated and watched airspace.
An observation camera at the adjacent Kennedy Centre captured footage of the planes seemingly colliding and transforming into a fireball.
According to senator Ted Cruz, the event resulted in fatalities. "While we don’t yet know how many on board were lost, we know there are fatalities," he said on X.
