On monday, march 3, a new bird flu outbreak was reported in the districts of sangareddy and medak in Telangana. In the two districts, about 8,000 dead chickens were discovered. In the previous three days, 7,000 of the dead chickens were discovered in Sangareddy. In medak, a weird sickness claimed the lives of a thousand others.
A poultry farm in Chautkur mandal, medak, on the outskirts of Taddanipalli, lost 23,900 hens to the virus in February. Veterinarian officials were set to visit the Jalalpur area of medak district on monday after 1,000 hens at Satish Goud's farm perished in two days.
Bird flu in Telangana
In Nelapatla village, choutuppal mandal of Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district, telangana reported its first incidence of bird flu, also known as Avian Influenza, on february 23. State officials are on high alert due to the epidemic, which comes after similar incidents in neighboring andhra pradesh and Maharashtra.
V Krishna, the district veterinary and animal husbandry officer, and his team visited the farm after receiving the report and put sanitization measures in place to stop the spread. Officials added that all poultry farms within a 10-kilometer radius of Nelapatla will be thoroughly watched, and samples from five neighboring poultry farms within a one-kilometer radius will be sent for testing.
