Himachal Pradesh: 'Himachal government is in favor of giving reservation to women', cm Sukhu's big statement

Himachal News: On the occasion of international Women's Day, himachal pradesh cm Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that women's power is the foundation of making himachal pradesh self-reliant.

Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu addressed a public meeting organized on the occasion of international Women's Day in kangra district on saturday (March 8). During this, he said that the state government is in favor of giving reservations to women. I try to ensure that women have a role in decision-making. Our government is committed to women's welfare.

He said that today women are not lagging in any field and women's power is the foundation of making himachal pradesh self-reliant. Sukhu said during the program at Chambi Maidan in Shahpur assembly constituency, "The state government is implementing corrective measures, but any change takes time. If we do not move with the times, we will lag." The chief minister also said, "Former prime minister Late rajiv gandhi provided 33 percent reservation to women in panchayati Raj Institutions through a constitutional amendment. This brought a positive change in the thinking towards women and today women are sharing responsibilities with men in every field."

CM praised sonia Gandhi.

The chief minister credited senior congress leader sonia gandhi for getting the bill passed in rajya sabha first to provide reservations for women in the assembly and Parliament. He informed that the state government amended the land laws to give equal rights to daughters. Apart from this, the state government increased the reservation for women in police recruitment to 30 percent.

He said that under the indira gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana, the state government bears the entire cost of the education of children of widowed women so that their studies are not affected. Sukhu reiterated that the present state government has started providing Rs 18,000 per year to women under the indira gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman nidhi Yojana as per the promise made by the party during the assembly elections.

He also said that the honorarium of Anganwadi workers, mini Anganwadi workers, and Anganwadi assistants has been increased every year, whereas during the tenure of previous governments such increase was done only before the elections. Apart from this, international Women's Day was celebrated in many district-level functions including Hamirpur.
