The Oscar-winning artist AR rahman is currently making headlines when, on march 16, 2024, he complained of chest trouble and was taken to the hospital. Rahman's manager quickly disclosed, however, that there was nothing to be concerned about and that the musician was hospitalized due to dehydration and stomach issues.
Rahman is the country's pride. Because of his outstanding performances in the movies Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours, he is the only indian to have received two Academy Awards in 2009.  Few people are aware that rahman was a Hindu who converted during his adolescence following the death of his father.  Yes, you read correctly. rahman came from a typical Hindu family and was raised as a Hindu. Why did AR rahman Converted To Islam?
Rahman, who was born dileep Kumar Rajagopala in Madras, tamil Nadu, started playing the piano when he was four years old.  When rahman was nine years old, his father, film soundtrack composer R.K. Shekhar, died. The family made money by renting out his father's musical instruments.
Rahman took over all of his family's responsibilities, working odd jobs to supplement his education. rahman would frequently miss lessons and perform poorly on tests because he was unable to stop working. As you may recall, Rahman's mother was once called by the school and instructed to take him out to beg on the streets.
Rahman was so troubled by the impoverished state that he gave up on life. He met Qadri Saaheb, a well-known peer, at that time and was struck by his principles and teachings. Thus, at the age of 23, he and his mother and sisters decided to convert to Islam. The musician discussed his conversion in a previous interview with karan Thapar, saying:
"He was receiving treatment from a Sufi in the final days before his death. After 7-8 years, we finally met him, and it was then that we embarked on a new spiritual journey that brought us serenity.

Rahman was raised in a Habibullah Roadhouse with his mother, who was a devout Hindu, with pictures of Hindu gods on the walls. rahman didn't like his previous name, dilip Kumar, so he accepted his new name, Abdul Rahman, after converting to Islam.  Did you know that a Hindu astrologer gave rahman his new name? rahman shared the same and disclosed in AR. "The truth is I never liked my name. No disrespect to the great actor dilip Kumar! However, somehow my name didn't match the image I had of myself. He suggested the names: Abdul rahman and Abdul Rahim and said that either name would be good for me. I instantly loved the name, Rahman. It was a Hindu astrologer who gave me my Muslim name."
