Karthik Subbaraj's much awaited film Retro, starring Suriya, is getting ready for its May 1st global
cinema debut. The Retro team is aggressively promoting the film with interviews on well-known YouTube channels in the final days before its release. Santhosh Narayanan, who wrote the
music for Retro, recently disclosed in an
interview that he warned
aamir khan at a special screening of Laal Singh Chaddha that his own career will be defined by the film's success.
He cited
aamir khan as his influence and regarded Laal Singh Chaddha as an experimental film. Sadly, though, the film did not
strike a chord with viewers. According to Santhosh Narayanan, Retro is in a similarly experimental field. He believes that if the
movie does well, it can lead to new opportunities for his musical career.
After this, some
social media users started making fun of the
idea that filmmakers only try experimental genres when working with Suriya. They gave examples like Selvaraghavan's political drama NGK and Siruthai Siva's historical drama Kanguva. However, viewers have high expectations for Retro, and it has still to be determined if it can live up to the hype and be a huge hit on May 1.
