India on alert after Operation Sindoor
For the first time in 54 years, 244 districts nationwide—known as "civil defense districts"—with important installations are taking part in the exercises. In light of the "new and complex threats" that have recently surdata-faced, the home Ministry has requested that all states conduct the drills.
Following indian raids on terror camps in pakistan and Pakistan-occupied kashmir on wednesday, Uttar Pradesh was placed under a high alert. To evaluate disaster readiness, mock exercises were held at government schools, NTPC buildings, shopping centers, and metro stations in Noida. Police and bomb teams conducted a drill at Gaur City Mall, turning out the lights and triggering evacuation procedures.
Children received disaster reaction training at delhi schools, which taught them how to respond composedly in the event of an air raid or fire. In partnership with civil defense organizations, ten schools in ghaziabad participated in similar drills.
Four private schools in Kolkata—DPS Ruby Park, La Martiniere for Boys, La Martiniere for Girls, and Future Foundation—conducted evacuation drills to assess students' and the institution's preparedness for an emergency.
