What To Expect From 'The Last of Us' Season 3

Without a doubt, Mazin is correct: two games don't always equal two tv seasons, and it's preferable for the show to take its time telling the tale properly. Ellie's sadness over Joel's death is the main focus of Season 2, which includes emotional flashbacks to guide her choices in the present. However, the great thing about The Last of Us: Part II is that Abby receives just as much character development as Ellie, including her own background and flashbacks, which establishes not only her retaliation against Joel and Ellie but also her future plans. It makes sense that Abby would be the main focus of Season 3 given how little we see of her in Season 2 and how "Convergence" concludes.

In Part II, Abby's story develops concurrently with Ellie's, demonstrating to the player that while Abby is an adversary, she isn't always the bad guy.  She and her pals are actually highly esteemed members of the WLF, as demonstrated by Isaac's (Jeffrey Wright) worry about her whereabouts in "Convergence."  The conclusion of Joel's death has a profound impact on her and her companions, and despite their best efforts to move on, they find themselves entangled in the WLF's conflict with the Seraphites.

The bond between Abby and Owen (Spencer Lord) is very significant.  He and Abby were previously a couple, but their relationship ultimately failed due to the violence all around them, as his conversation with Mel (Ariela Barer) in the Season 2 finale demonstrates. Abby finds it more difficult to move on and start dating Mel, whereas Owen does.  Now that we know that they are all everyday individuals who likewise get caught up in a cycle of violence and retaliation, their storylines become even more intricate and poignant as they are entwined with Ellie and Dina's journey to Seattle.

Abby's past informs every aspect of her present, and those incidents might potentially constitute a separate flashback episode in Season 3.  Abby and her father, Jerry, are assisting a herd of zebras in the area when Owen interrupts them to inform Jerry that he is required in the hospital. This occurs hours before Joel goes on a rampage against the Fireflies.  Abby and her crew, whom Isaac later refers to as "the salt Lake Crew," relocate to Seattle after the Fireflies disband due to tragedy.  Abby and Owen explore the city after moving in with the WLF, discover the Seattle Aquarium, and turn it into their own private retreat. But eventually, after discovering a new lead, Abby chooses to go look for Joel, and with Isaac's approval, the group travels to Jackson.

A lot is going on in the background, from Abby's return to Seattle to her run-in with Ellie in the theater.  In keeping with The Last of Us tradition, Season 2 suggests that the Seraphites and the WLF are now at war, which means that people from both sides may experience unanticipated complications in their lives.  Abby experiences precisely that as she balances her obligations as a WLF lieutenant with her friendships.  After being almost hanged by the WLF's adversaries, Abby finds herself surprisingly determined to save two former Seraphites in the violently charged city of Seattle.
