Kamal Haasan set to enter Rajya Sabha After Setting Deal With Stalin's DMK
Haasan was given the choice of running for one lok sabha seat or accepting a post-election rajya sabha seat after his Makkal Needhi Maiam formally joined the DMK-led alliance in tamil Nadu prior to the 2024 lok sabha elections.
Haasan emphadata-sized that his decision to join the DMK-led group was motivated more by national interest than by individual political benefit.
Interestingly, Haasan first proposed the MNM in 2018 as a rival to the DMK and AIADMK, two Dravidian parties.
When he spoke during the party's eighth founding day festivities in chennai earlier this year, the multidata-faceted actor alluded to his debut in Parliament.
"Our voice will be heard in parliament this year. You will have a voice in the State assembly next year," he remarked.
The DMK is predicted to win four of the six rajya sabha seats based on the current strength of the tamil Nadu assembly, which has 134 MLAs. The AIADMK, which has once more allied itself with the BJP, is expected to receive the other two.
