After 38 years since the premiere of their renowned
gangster thriller, Nayagan, the legendary
kollywood actor-director team of
kamal haasan and
mani ratnam has reunited. With enormous anticipation, the two are preparing for the
june 5 global
cinema debut of their much-anticipated
gangster film, Thug Life.
Star
heroine trisha plays a major role in Thug Life as well. A few hints of
kamal haasan and Trisha's romance were seen in the movie's recently released theatrical trailer. The 28-year age difference between Kamal and
trisha sparked a heated discussion on social media. Mani Ratnam recently discussed the controversies surrounding Kamal and Trisha's romance in an
interview with Mid Day.
People are trying to disregard what is going on in society,
mani ratnam remarked, pointing out that real-life couples with significant age differences are rather prevalent. He continued by saying that partnerships of this nature shouldn't be evaluated differently on screen.
"There are slightly older
people in real life who are in relationships with younger
people, whether they are male or female. It's just a reality. That has been the case for a while. It's not only now. We try to criticize it or pass judgment when it shows up in movies and insist that it should only be one way," the auteur told Mid Day. The
audience should
view Kamal and
trisha as characters in Thug Life rather than as Kamal and
trisha, he added.
