Death Toll Rises To 10 In Stampede After RCB Victory Celebrations ..?
Tragedy struck Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium after RCB's IPL 2025 victory. Overcrowding during celebrations resulted in a stampede, leaving ten feared dead and numerous others injured.
“I have spoken to the police Commissioner and everyone. I will also go to the hospital later. I do not want to disturb the doctors who are taking care of the patients. The exact number cannot be told now. We appeal to the people to remain calm. We shortened the program. The program ended within 10 minutes. We are trying to make everything normal...Lakhs of people came,” said Shivakumar.
According to the news agency PTI, police used mild force to control the crowd and bring the situation under control ahead of a special felicitation at the stadium for the RCB team organized by the karnataka State cricket Association (KSCA). The report, further quoting eye-witnesses said that a stampede-like situation emerged as fans thronged the venue of felicitation. Visuals showed police shifting the injured persons and those who fell unconscious in ambulances to nearby hospitals.
According to a traffic advisory from the Bengaluru police, entry to Chinnaswamy Stadium was limited to only those with valid tickets and passes.
As there is limited parking facility available near the Chinnaswamy Stadium, those who are attending the eventare advised to use public transport and Metro. The public is requested to cooperate, it said.
