Rupani was 68 years old. He was the chief minister of gujarat from 2016 to 2020. Before becoming the chief minister, Rupani was a rajya sabha member between July 2006 and 2012. After resigning from the post of chief minister of gujarat in 2014, anandiben patel replaced prime minister Narendra Modi. Almost two years later, in august 2016, vijay rupani became the Chief Minister. In the first term, Rupani held the post of cm from august 2016 to december 2017. After this, he took over the post of Chief Minister between December 2017 and September 2021. He was the chief minister for five years and 37 days.
There were 242 passengers on board the air india aircraft Boeing 787-8. Since the accident, rescue and relief teams have been busy with their work. So far more than 200 bodies have been recovered. Reuters quoted ahmedabad city police commissioner GS Malik as saying that a total of 204 bodies have been recovered from the accident site.
