Earlier, due to bad weather in the national capital, an air india flight (AI2146) coming from Bali to Delhi was diverted to lal bahadur shastri international airport in Varanasi. After stopping in varanasi on tuesday, the flight left for delhi the same night.
As a precaution, many airlines suspended operations at Bali's Ngurah Rai international Airport. Many airlines, including Virgin Australia, Jetstar, air New Zealand, Singapore's Tigerair, China's Juneyao airlines, and air india, canceled or diverted their flights.
Earlier, air india canceled seven international flights on tuesday due to reasons including increased security checks and unavailability of aircraft after the ahmedabad plane crash. The return of six of these flights has also been canceled, taking the number of canceled flights to 13. All these were Boeing 787 Dreamliner flights. Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that 66 out of a total of 248 Dreamliner flights of Air india had to be canceled in the last six days from june 12 to 17 due to technical flaws or unavailability of aircraft. During this period, air india operated 462 large aircraft, of which 83 flights were canceled.
According to DGCA, the flights that were canceled on tuesday include Ahmedabad-London, London-Amritsar, Delhi-Dubai, Bangalore-London, Delhi-Vienna and Delhi-Paris flights. At the same time, the plane coming from san francisco to mumbai landed in kolkata due to a technical fault, and its further journey to mumbai and then back has been canceled. Passengers are facing a lot of trouble due to the cancellation of these flights. Gatwick-London to amritsar flight AI-170 was also canceled on Tuesday.
Air india flight AI2491 from mumbai to Lucknow scheduled on June 17was cancelled.The airline said that the decision to cancel the flight was also taken due to the diversion of flights due to heavy rains in Delhi. Apart from this, the operations crew reached their regulatory flight duty time limit due to the delay in the arrival of the diverted flights.
