Background of Dr Umar

Dr Umar Mohammad, originally from Pulwama, has been identified by police as the man driving the hyundai i20 that exploded near red Fort Metro Station on monday evening.

He is a medical doctor (MD) who previously worked at a medical college in Anantnag.

Umar reportedly shifted to delhi three years ago and last visited Pulwama two months ago.

According to family members, he was deeply focused on studies and preferred not to be disturbed.

Family’s Reaction and Statements

Aunt Tabassum’s Account

Umar’s aunt, Tabassum, expressed shock, saying the family knew nothing about his alleged involvement.

She described him as:

“A doctor who studied day and night.”

Someone without any visible signs of extremist tendencies.

She insisted the family was unaware of the blast until informed by reporters.

Tabassum denied any family knowledge of Adil and Muzammil, the two doctors arrested in the faridabad arms haul.

Police Visit to Family Home

Police officials reportedly arrived at the family’s home around 10:30 PM on Monday.

They questioned family members and later took away his two brothers and mother for further inquiry.

The family claims they have no information on what happened afterwards.
