Tamil Nadu chief minister
M.K. Stalin yesterday (Dec 2, 2025) presided over a review meeting at the
Chief Minister’s Office to assess the progress and operations of the state’s flagship welfare initiative,
“Nalam Kaakkum Stalin”. The program, under the
Department of Welfare of Differently Abled and Public Welfare, aims to provide comprehensive medical and welfare services to vulnerable populations across the state.
Program OverviewFor the financial year
2025–26, it has been announced that
special medical camps will be conducted across all districts of tamil Nadu to provide
advanced healthcare services under this scheme.The
“Nalam Kaakkum Stalin” special medical camps were inaugurated on
Aug 2, 2025, at
St. Peter’s Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary school in Chennai, Santome, by the Honorable chief minister himself. These camps are designed to deliver high-level healthcare services to underserved communities.
Funding and ReachA total of
1,256 medical camps have been sanctioned across the state, with a budget allocation of
₹13.58 crore, averaging
₹1.08 lakh per camp. These camps focus on districts and villages with
limited access to medical facilities, including rural, slum, and underserved areas.The initiative prioritizes residents based on need, ensuring services reach
those who are most vulnerable.
Beneficiaries and ServicesThe program specifically targets the following groups:· people
above 40 years of age· Patients with
kidney disorders or high blood pressure· Individuals with
mental health issues· heart patients and individuals with
cardiac concerns· pregnant women and
lactating mothers· Children in need of
nutritional and health support· Persons with
disabilities· Residents of
elderly care homes and socially marginalized communitiesThe camps provide
screening, medical consultation, preventive care, and follow-up services, ensuring comprehensive healthcare support.
Chief Minister’s EmphasisDuring the review, cm stalin emphadata-sized the need to
expand coverage, improve medical facilities, and ensure that all disadvantaged groups receive timely care. He highlighted that the program reflects the government’s commitment to
public health, welfare, and social equity in tamil Nadu.
