Madurai, tamil Nadu — tamil Nadu deputy chief minister
Udhayanidhi Stalin addressed a large gathering at a christmas celebration organized in Madurai. In his speech, he drew a comparison between the core teachings of
Christianity and the principles of the
Dravidian movement, saying there was
no significant difference between the two.Udhayanidhi stated that both
Christian values and
Dravidian ideology emphadata-size
love, compassion, equality and humanity toward others at all times. According to him, these shared values show a close data-alignment between the two philosophies. He noted that Christian teachings, particularly the message of Jesus Christ about
love, simplicity and caring for the weak, mirror the social justice values upheld by the Dravidian movement. Udhayanidhi pointed out that the Dravidian movement historically advocated uplifting ordinary people and promoting equality, similar to Christian ethical teachings. He also praised the warmth and affection shown to him by Christian brothers and sisters, saying their support deeply moved him. Udhayanidhi expressed happiness at participating in the christmas event not only as deputy chief minister but also as the secretary of his party’s youth wing.According to his remarks:
- Both Christianity and Dravidian ideology teach compassion and brotherhood.
- Dravidian leaders, like those in the early Dravidian movement, worked for social upliftment, showing that ordinary people can rise through hard work — a theme he linked to Christian teachings about humility and service.
While making this comparison, Udhayanidhi also criticized what he described as divisive politics by the Central Government, accusing the ruling national party of promoting hatred based on caste, language and religion, and attempting to create societal divisions. In summary, Udhayanidhi’s comment was meant to highlight
common ethical themes — like equality, compassion, and human dignity — between Christian moral teaching and the Dravidian ideological heritage in tamil Nadu.
