M.K. Stalin has officially announced that the
Thiruvottiyur highway will be renamed
“Vallalar Highway.” This decision was revealed by the chief minister in a statement shared on his social media account.According to stalin, the renaming is part of ongoing efforts to
honor the legacy of Vallalar, a renowned saint and spiritual poet revered for his message of
universal compassion and humanity. As per the Dravidian model of governance followed in the state,
Vallalar’s birthday is celebrated as the “Great Compassion Day.” This reflects the government’s initiative to
commemorate his teachings and contributions more prominently in the public sphere.Alongside the highway renaming, the chief minister also announced plans for an
international Vallalar conference to be held on
February 15, 2026, at the Ekambaranathar school campus in
Chennai’s Kelambakkam area. The event aims to
spread Vallalar’s high‑order philosophical ideas globally and attract participants from various parts of the world.The renaming of the highway is expected to be part of broader cultural and commemorative initiatives recognizing Vallalar’s spiritual impact and legacy across tamil Nadu.
