Chief Minister M.K. Stalin Distributes ₹1.17 Crore in Government Subsidy to 389 Devotees Who Undertook Mukthinath Spiritual Pilgrimage

Chennai: tamil Nadu chief minister M.K. stalin today (February 5, 2026) distributed government subsidy cheques amounting to 1.17 crore to 389 devotees who undertook the Mukthinath spiritual pilgrimage. The cheque distribution ceremony was held in Chennai.

The financial assistance was provided under a state government scheme aimed at supporting devotees from economically weaker sections to undertake important religious pilgrimages. The initiative is implemented through the administration and maintenance of temples under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department, including temples from Kanyakumari, Pudukkottai, and thanjavur districts.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister stated that the scheme reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for devotees to participate in significant spiritual journeys, irrespective of their financial background. He emphadata-sized that the government respects all faiths and continues to extend support for religious and cultural activities in a transparent and inclusive manner.

Mukthinath, located in Nepal, is considered one of the sacred pilgrimage destinations, especially revered by devotees for its spiritual significance. The subsidy provided by the state government helped cover travel and related expenses for the selected pilgrims.

Senior ministers, HR&CE department officials, and representatives from temple administrations were present at the event. The chief minister reiterated that similar assistance schemes would continue in the future to promote spiritual harmony and social inclusion.
