Tamil Nadu chief minister M. K. Stalin has announced that 33 percent of the state’s total bus fleet will be converted to electric buses by the year 2030. The move is part of the government’s broader commitment to sustainable development and reducing carbon emissions across the state.

The chief minister emphadata-sized that the transition to electric mobility will significantly lower air pollution levels and fuel consumption, while also promoting clean and green transportation.

Push for Green Public Transport

The tamil Nadu government has been steadily expanding its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure. By increasing the number of electric buses in public transport services, the administration aims to:

· Reduce dependence on fossil fuels

· Lower greenhouse gas emissions

Massive Tree Plantation Drive

In addition to the electric bus initiative, the chief minister announced that five lakh sandalwood saplings will be planted across tamil Nadu. This large-scale afforestation program is aimed at strengthening green cover and enhancing ecological balance.

The planting of sandalwood trees, which have both environmental and economic value, is expected to contribute to biodiversity conservation and long-term sustainability.
