Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva Arrives in New delhi for india AI Impact Summit 2026
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva arrived in New delhi on a five-day state visit to india from february 18 to 22.
He is visiting at the invitation of narendra modi and will participate in the india AI Impact Summit 2026.
Upon his arrival at the airport, he was warmly received by Pavithra Margherita, minister of State for External Affairs.
The announcement of his arrival was shared officially by the Ministry of External Affairs through a public statement.
During his visit, President Lula will attend the second edition of the india AI Impact Summit, scheduled for february 19 and 20 in New Delhi.
Speaking to reporters before departing for india, Lula said he aims to explore new areas of cooperation, particularly in artificial intelligence, innovation, and technology partnerships.
He emphadata-sized the growing economic ties between the two countries, noting that bilateral trade exceeded US$15 billion in 2025.
President Lula will hold bilateral talks with prime minister narendra modi to review all aspects of India-Brazil relations.
Discussions are expected to cover trade, investment, technology collaboration, and cooperation in multilateral forums.
The leaders will also exchange views on key regional and global issues, including multilateralism, global governance reforms, and matters concerning the Global South.
Prime minister Modi will host a luncheon in honour of the visiting leader.
President Lula is accompanied by a large delegation that includes hundreds of business leaders and company executives, highlighting the economic focus of the visit.
The Ministry of External Affairs described the visit as an important step toward strengthening the India-Brazil strategic partnership.
According to officials, india and brazil share democratic values, a common global vision, and a commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
During his stay, President Lula will also meet Draupadi Murmu, who will host a banquet in his honour.
He is scheduled to meet Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan and External Affairs minister S. Jaishankar.
The visit is expected to give fresh momentum to diplomatic, economic, and technological cooperation between india and Brazil.
