India Formally Joins Pax Silica Initiative


India is officially joining the US-led “Pax Silica” initiative aimed at strengthening artificial intelligence (AI) and critical supply chain security.


The announcement was made during the Global AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi.

The move signals deeper strategic and technological cooperation between India and the united states and allied nations.


India aims to play a key role in shaping global AI governance while representing the interests of the Global South.


What Is Pax Silica?


Pax Silica is an initiative of the united states Department of State.

The program focuses on:


Secure and responsible development of AI technologies.

Building resilient and trusted supply chains for critical goods and resources.


Enhancing economic and national security among participating countries.


The declaration emphadata-sizes that strong supply chains are vital for long-term economic stability.


It also highlights AI as a transformative force for future prosperity, innovation, and global competitiveness.

Expanding India–US technology Cooperation


Jacob Hellberg, US Under Secretary of Economic Affairs, is visiting india from february 20–21.


His visit includes participation in AI conferences and discussions on strengthening the India–US technology partnership.


A new phase of the AI export control and cooperation program is also expected to be launched.


Focus on Critical Mineral Supply Chains


External Affairs minister S. jaishankar recently attended the Minerals Security Ministerial in the US.


He highlighted concerns that essential mineral supplies are overly concentrated in a few countries.


India emphadata-sized the need for diversified, secure, and collaborative supply chains to reduce global economic risks.
