A total of 7,667 migrants lost their lives in 2025 while attempting to migrate to different countries around the world, according to the international Organization for Migration (IOM), a United Nations agency. The IOM stated that the deaths occurred across multiple migration routes, including dangerous sea crossings and remote land data-borders. Many migrants reportedly perished while trying to escape conflict, economic hardship, political instability, and environmental crises in their home countries.
