BJP’s Pakistan vs The World’s Pakistan—Who’s Right?

SIBY JEYYA

At a time when tensions between india and pakistan are being projected as dangerously high, the global diplomatic chessboard is telling a very different story—one that raises uncomfortable, urgent questions. While public discourse in india continues to frame pakistan as isolated and unstable, the international Monetary Fund’s approval of a nearly $1 billion loan, backed by a majority of influential nations, suggests otherwise. More strikingly, countries like China, Russia, and key gulf economies are not distancing themselves—they are deepening economic engagement with Pakistan.

Even more surprising is Pakistan’s emerging role in high-stakes global mediation. In a moment where the US–Israel–Iran tensions threaten to destabilize the global economy, pakistan is being positioned as a facilitator. Reports suggest that, at the request of Pakistan’s leadership, temporary de-escalation steps have been considered, with ceasefire discussions taking place on Pakistani soil. Whether symbolic or substantive, this signals diplomatic relevance that contradicts the long-standing “isolated Pakistan” narrative.

So what exactly is happening here? Are global powers reshaping Pakistan’s image as a necessary strategic partner? Or is this a temporary data-alignment driven by convenience rather than trust? And more importantly, how does this square with the narrative built domestically in india over the past decade?

The disconnect is glaring. If pakistan is truly being sidelined globally, why are major economies engaging it so actively? If it isn’t, then has political rhetoric in india oversimplified a far more complex geopolitical reality?

This isn’t just about Pakistan. It’s about India’s place in the same global order. Narratives matter—but outcomes matter more. The real question is: who is shaping the truth, and who is reacting to it?
