Supergirl’s First Meeting With Superman Is Here — And It’s Every Bit as Awkward, Funny, and Heartwarming

SIBY JEYYA

The next chapter of the DC Universe is officially taking shape, and if the latest footage is any indication, Supergirl may be bringing a very different energy to the franchise than fans expected. Fresh off the massive success of Superman, DC Studios has unveiled the first full clip from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, giving audiences their first extended look at Milly Alcock’s Kara Zor-El and her long-awaited meeting with David Corenswet’s Man of Steel. The scene is brief, but it delivers exactly what fans want: humor, heart, family dynamics, and a glimpse of a heroine who clearly isn’t interested in living in anyone’s shadow.

What Happens in the New Clip?

The footage opens moments after Kara crash-lands on Earth in her escape pod alongside the ever-chaotic Krypto. Superman greets his younger cousin, eager to help, only to immediately realize he has a problem: he can’t understand a single word she’s saying. While Clark struggles with the language barrier, Krypto wastes no time making his presence known by taking a playful nip at Superman’s finger.

As the pair make their way toward the Fortress of Solitude, the scene delivers one of its funniest moments. Kara casually questions why her famous cousin appears to be running around in what looks like “underwear,” perfectly capturing her outsider perspective and setting the tone for their dynamic. The clip closes with Superman informing Kara that her extraordinary Kryptonian abilities should activate “right about... now,” teasing the beginning of her transformation into the girl of Steel.

Box office Buzz and Early Reactions

Excitement surrounding the film is already building rapidly. Advance ticket sales launched this week, and industry projections currently point toward a solid $55 million domestic opening weekend. While that figure falls short of Superman’s impressive $125 million debut, expectations remain strong for a character making her first solo leap into the DCU spotlight.

Adding to the intrigue, early screenings reportedly took place this week, though critics remain under embargo and won’t be able to share public reactions for some time. That silence is only fueling speculation about what DC may have on its hands.

A Cosmic Quest for Revenge and Redemption

Directed as an epic space-faring adventure, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow follows Kara Zor-El as she reluctantly joins forces with an unexpected ally when a ruthless enemy threatens everything she holds dear. What begins as a mission driven by revenge gradually evolves into a journey of self-discovery, forcing Kara to confront her past, her family legacy, and what it truly means to become a hero.

Alongside Milly Alcock, the film features Matthias Schoenaerts as the feared Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura, and Jason Momoa in a highly anticipated role. Produced by james Gunn and Peter Safran for DC Studios, the film is positioned as one of the most important building blocks of the new DC Universe.

And if this first clip is anything to go by, Kara Zor-El isn’t arriving to follow Superman’s path—she’s here to carve out her own.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow flies into theaters on june 26, 2026.
