Tourism of Kashmir affected badly due to the spike in COVID-19 cases
The second wave of Covid-19 has seriously hit the tourism industry in kashmir valley. As per the local tourist operators, the tourism season steadily picked up from october 2020. Substantial snowfall in the previous winter pulled in huge number of vacationers in kashmir particularly in Gulmarg where the grand game 'Khelo India' was coordinated by the government. The launch of the Tulip Garden in march this year further bought in the guests.
The tourism industry is considered as the backbone of an economy. It has a great potential to generate employment for thousands of people. The stakeholders including hoteliers, travel agents, houseboat owners, shikara owners and others in the valley are worried due to ninety per cent cancellation of bookings.
The tourists who have already made their bookings for the month of april have come to visit the scenic places.
