Income tax raid against Chinese telecom company??

A major action has been taken by the Income Tax Department to raid the premises of Chinese telecom operator huawei in the country. Official sources said that the Income Tax Department on wednesday raided and searched several premises of Chinese telecom company huawei in the country as part of its investigation of tax evasion.

On Tuesday, raids were conducted on the premises of the Chinese company in Delhi, Gurugram (Haryana), and Bangalore. Sources said officials have perused financial documents, ledgers, and company records as part of a tax evasion probe against the company and its overseas transactions, including its indian businesses.

At the same time, regarding this raid, the company said, "Its operations in the country were "strongly compliant" with the law. We will contact the relevant government departments for more information." Along with this, the company is claiming full cooperation in the investigation.

Notably, earlier this week the Ministry of Information and technology removed 54 more apps with Chinese links, including Tencent Driver, Nice Video Baidu, Viva Video Editor, and gaming app Garena Free fire Illuminate, citing security and privacy concerns was blocked. In such a situation, it is now clear from the raids against huawei that the central government can take strict action against Chinese companies.
