MovingTech, the developer behind the Namma Yatri app, has launched a pioneering lifetime zero-commission cab service under the “Yatri” brand in delhi NCR. This significant expansion builds on the app’s success as a community-driven transportation solution within the ONDC Network.
Yatri, India’s first open and community-focused cab and auto service app, has transitioned from its initial auto pilot phase to a full-scale cab service offering. The app operates on a zero-commission model, aimed at making transportation more affordable while increasing driver earnings by 15-20%. This model not only supports improved vehicle maintenance but also enhances safety through advanced features.

This model levels the playing field for drivers, offering them higher earnings. Yatri is designed as a fully open-source, open-network, and open-data platform. It features dynamic booking and smart dispatch processes, offering auto, AC Mini, AC Sedan, and AC XL Cab services at competitive rates. The ONDC Network aims to unify various transportation modes, including food, grocery, and e-commerce, under a single network.

Competing against established players like Uber, Ola, and Swiggy-backed Rapido, Namma Yatri has quickly gained traction. The app has onboarded 49,000 auto drivers and 550,000 users in just five months, disbursing approximately INR 12 crores ($1.5 million) to drivers. It celebrated 500 million downloads in March. Although it currently lacks features like bike taxis and carpooling, future expansions are anticipated with Google’s backing.
The founders plan to utilize the new funds to bolster engineering and R&D capabilities, with plans to introduce additional transportation options, including buses.
