Recognizing the contribution of the gig and platform employees to the kingdom's financial system, the Union Budget 2025-26 has introduced provisions for the registration of online platform employees on the e-Shram portal, the issuance of identification cards, and healthcare coverage under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).

The AB-PMJAY fitness scheme affords a coverage of Rs five lakh in line with family in step with 12 months for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization throughout over 31,000 public and private empaneled hospitals in India.

As a primary step, the ministry has asked the platform workers to self-sign in on the e-Shram portal so that they'll be considered for the advantages beneath the scheme at the earliest, the statement stated.

The platform aggregators are also to disseminate this statistic, a number of the platform workers engaged with them, and facilitate them to sign in on the e-Shram portal.

Platform employees may also go to the e-Shram portal and hold their registration on priority, the ministry said.
