🌿 Sukku Milagu Kuzhambu (Dry Ginger & Black Pepper Curry)

This is a traditional South indian herbal curry often consumed for its health benefits, especially during cold or flu, as it helps relieve cough, cold, and indigestion.

Ingredients:

Dry ginger (Sukku): 1 small piece

Black pepper (Milagu): 2 teaspoons

Tamarind (Puli): 50 grams

Fenugreek seeds (Vendhayam): 1 teaspoon

Curry leaves (Kariveppilai): a few

Preparation Overview:

Tamarind extract: Soak tamarind in warm water and extract the juice.

Tempering spices: In a pan, dry roast fenugreek seeds, black pepper, and dry ginger until aromatic.

Cooking the curry:

Boil the tamarind water.

Add the roasted spice powder to the boiling tamarind water.

Add curry leaves for aroma.

Simmer until all flavors combine well.

Serving: Best served hot with steamed rice. This curry has a spicy, tangy, and slightly bitter flavor but is highly valued for its digestive and medicinal properties.
