It has been reported that Patanjali ayurveda has withdrawn from airing advertisements in kerala following a complaint that it was misleading people with its misleading advertisements. A kerala doctor has filed a case against these advertisements. Following this, it has been reported that the airing of these advertisements has been stopped.
Divya Pharmacy, an affiliate of Patanjali ayurveda in kerala, has been airing advertisements for some Ayurvedic products. According to the Federal Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the advertisements are illegal under the drugs and Drug Anti-Drugs Act of 1954 and are misleading. divya Pharmacy has informed the authorities in a letter that it has immediately stopped publishing these advertisements. It is noteworthy that K. Vibabu, a doctor from Kannur in kerala, had lodged a complaint against the advertisement and questioned under the Right to Information Act what action had been taken on his complaint last March.
Complaining about this, Dr. K. Vibabu said that drugs should not be advertised as curing certain diseases immediately and he had lodged a complaint with the Drug Control Officer last february that these advertisements had been aired since February.
He pointed out that the advertisement had said that it was an immediate remedy for heart problems and blood pressure and that it would reduce cholesterol levels in a single week.
It is learned that the Patanjali ayurveda Institute had already advertised a drug called 'Coronil' to cure the coronavirus and the court had ordered an inquiry into the company following that.
