Soldiers reached hideout of Naxalites, hardcore Naxalite killed…

Dantewada police has achieved a major success during Operation Monsoon being run against Naxalites in Bastar, Chhattisgarh. In an encounter with Naxalites, the soldiers have killed a hardcore Naxalite. Naxalite items including weapons have also been recovered from near the dead body of the killed Naxalite. To carry out this operation, the soldiers crossed the fast flow of the overflowing indravati river in the rainy season and reached the hideouts of Naxalites. On reaching the spot, the soldiers attacked the temporary hideouts of the Naxalites. However, taking advantage of the dense forest, many Naxalites managed to escape from the spot.

During the search, the soldiers have recovered the body of a male Naxalite. At present, the identity of the killed Naxalite has not been ascertained, DRG soldiers are busy identifying him. The soldiers claim that there is a strong possibility of more Naxalites getting injured in this encounter. At present, all the soldiers have returned safely to the police camp with the body of the slain Naxalite.

The soldiers destroyed the temporary camp of the Naxalites

Giving information about the encounter, Dantewada SP Gaurav Rai said that there was information about the presence of Maoists in the forests and hills of Ikeli, Nelgoda, Tumnar of Geedam police station area of the district. Based on the information, a search operation was conducted in the area on saturday (August 10) by the soldiers of DRG and Bastar Fighter. According to the Dantewada SP, despite the indravati river being in spate during heavy rains, without caring for their lives, they crossed the Tejdhar river and reached the hideout of the Naxalites. During this time, the Naxalites, who were already lying in ambush, started firing indiscriminately on the DRG and Bastar fighter soldiers.

The body of the Naxalite recovered from the spot

The security forces also took charge and retaliated and the encounter continued for about 2 hours. After the firing stopped, during the search operation conducted by the soldiers at the spot, the body of a male Naxalite along with his weapons and many of his belongings were recovered. The SP said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the Naxalite killed was probably a member of Platoon No. 16. At present, the process of identification is going on. According to the information received from the soldiers, there is a possibility of more Naxalites getting injured in this encounter. At present, all the soldiers have returned safely to the camp.
