A startling accusation has come to the fore in the RG Kar Medical college and Hospital junior doctor's rape & murder case. The prime accused in the case, Sanjay Roy, allegedly would roam around on a bike registered in the kolkata police Commissioner's name. Sanjay Roy was a civic volunteer in the RG Kar Medical college and Hospital area.The allegation, put out by an india Today report quoting cbi sources, was latched on to the BJP, which again demanded chief minister mamata Banerjee's resignation. The kolkata police, however, has clarified this was an attempt to spread confusion.
BJP's IT cell head Amit Malviya on Tuesday said
"Sanjay Roy, accused in the RG Kar MCH rape and murder case, as per kolkata police and the TMC, on the fateful night, was riding a bike registered in the name of kolkata police Commissioner. The same Commissioner called it a suicide without even a proper investigation. mamata banerjee was constantly in touch with him throughout."The kolkata police, however, said that this was a confusion being spread around by some social media users. "All government vehicles belonging to kolkata Police are officially registered under the Commissioner of police before being assigned to various units," the department said in an X post.
Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer, rode around on a bike that had a kolkata police sticker. A photo of him on the same bikeis also doing rounds of social media platforms. The cbi has seized the bike as part of its rape & murder investigation.
