8 year old Hindu boy accused of sacrilege a religious school!

In Pakistan, an eight-year-old Hindu child is being detained in protective police custody after being charged with blasphemy for the first time in the country. The boy's family has gone into hiding, as have many Hindus in the conservative region of Rahim Yar Khan in punjab province after a Muslim mob destroyed a Hindu temple following the boy's release on bail last week.

Last month, the child is accused of peeing on a carpet in the library of a madrassa, which houses holy texts.

"He (the child) is not even aware of such blasphemous concerns and he has been wrongly indulged in these topics," a member of the boy's family told the Guardian from an unknown location. He still has no idea what his offence was or why he was imprisoned for a week.
In Pakistan, blasphemy charges can result in a death sentence. Although there have been no blasphemy executions in the nation since the death penalty was established in 1986, defendants are frequently assaulted and sometimes killed by crowds.

The External Affairs Ministry of india summoned a Pakistani envoy in New delhi to denounce the attack and urge that Hindu families residing in the Muslim-majority country be secure.
