Covid booster dose in India recommended!
The US has approved a supplemental dosage of the Covid vaccination, which will begin rolling out in September. However, Booster doses are now discouraged by the World health Organization since many impoverished nations still lack immunizations. Dr Soumya Swaminathan, the WHO's chief scientist, recently stated that the existing data does not show that boosters are required.
Dr priya Abraham, head of the National Institute of Virology, stated that the booster dosage will undoubtedly be recommended in the future in India. This is due to a concerning vaccination disparity between high- and low-income nations. The government's stated position on booster doses is that the matter is under investigation.
Dr priya Abraham said in an interview with india Science, the department of science and technology's OTT channel, "Booster dosage studies have been conducted in other countries, with at least seven different vaccinations being tested. The WHO has now put a halt to it until more countries get vaccinated. This is due to a concerning vaccination disparity between high- and low-income nations. However, booster proposals will undoubtedly be forthcoming in the future."
Because of the virus's developing strains, AIIMS head Dr Randeep Guleria believes booster doses may become necessary. The judgement is still out on whether this would be an annual need or whether everyone will need a Covid booster dose. Employees at the Serum Institute in Pune, india, were reportedly given booster dosages. Chairman Cyrus Poonawalla has lately said that he had taken a booster dosage.
