India US join hands for Afghans!
In a meeting on the margins of the UN Security Council's emergency meeting in New York, minister for External Affairs S jaishankar and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken agreed to work together in light of the turmoil in Afghanistan.
In a summary of the discussion, US state department spokeswoman Ned Price stated, "Secretary Blinken and minister jaishankar reviewed afghanistan and agreed to continue the collaboration."
India is keeping a careful eye on events in afghanistan and their consequences for the region's geopolitical situation. India's approach to afghanistan would be driven by its relationship with the Afghan people, according to the External Affairs Minister. He also discussed the issue with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The united states is under fire for how it handled the withdrawal of American soldiers from Afghanistan.
The United Nations Security Council convened for the second time in ten days to assess the situation in afghanistan, where a democratically elected government fell in weeks in the data-face of an overwhelming Taliban onslaught. The UN has encouraged the Taliban to uphold its "vows," including promises to offer amnesty to former government employees, to be inclusive of women, and to let girls continue their education.
