Taliban says no this nation's for any relations!
Shaheen surprised many when he agreed to an interview with Israel's Kan public broadcaster last month; however, he later revealed that he had been tricked into doing so.
Since the Taliban retook control of Afghanistan, shaheen has been conducting interviews in english from Qatar. He claims he had no clue he was speaking with someone from an Israeli news outlet. The Taliban, an Islamic fundamentalist organisation, has a history of backing al-Qaeda, which often threatens israel and propagates anti-Israel rhetoric.
When shaheen chatted with journalist Roi Kais of Kan, an Israeli broadcaster, through video, Kais mentioned his network but did not tell shaheen that he or it was Israeli. Kan's interview went viral, sparking outrage that shaheen agreed to talk with an Israeli. However, shaheen tweeted many hours later that he didn't understand who he was speaking to.
“I do numerous interviews with media every day since the Islamic Emirate took control of Afghanistan's provincial centres and the capital Kabul,” he wrote. “Some journalists may be impersonating others, but I have yet to have an interview with someone who introduces themselves as an Israeli journalist.”
