Watch: Traffic Cop Dragged on Car Bonnet for 1KM

An official claimed a traffic police constable was carried for about 1km on the bonnet of a car here on thursday after he requested the driver to halt the vehicle for breaching traffic rules.

After the incident, which was caught by mobile phone cameras, the DN nagar police in suburban Andheri filed an FIR against the unnamed vehicle driver, he added.


Constable Vijay Singh Gurav was on duty below the azad nagar metro station in Andheri when a car entered from the wrong side and drove towards sv Road, according to the official. According to him, the constable signalled the automobile driver to halt, but he tried to leave after waving some ID card.

Gaurav, on the other hand, leapt and sat on the car's hood when the driver increased the pace. According to the official, the policeman was carried for almost 1km before being flung off as the automobile entered a lane. The officer can be seen sitting on the car bonnet and being pulled by the driver in footage recorded by locals. These videos quickly became viral on social media. Gaurav went straight to the police station and filed a report against the automobile driver, who has yet to be recognised.
