India's master plan reason for china's power crisis?

Over the last several weeks, more than half of China's provinces have imposed power rationing, disturbing the lives of tens of millions of people. Elevators have been shut off, store hours have been reduced, and factories have had to cut back on their operational days and electricity use. Outright blackouts have occurred in certain provinces. Meanwhile, industrial production fell in september for the first time since china began to recover from the COVID-19 restrictions.

It's the worst power outage china has seen in a decade. The immediate culprit is China's continued reliance on coal, which accounts for 70% of the country's electricity output. The central government controls the price of power paid to generators, but coal prices are determined by the market. If coal prices rise, coal power stations will be unable to continue to produce energy unless regulators raise electricity tariffs.

China's embargo on Australian coal imports, which began in november of last year, has wreaked havoc on the global coal market. About 55 per cent of China's metallurgical coal comes from Australia. Following the prohibition, a line of 46 ships carrying about 5 million tonnes formed near the Chinese coast for more than a month. After that, they were redirected, and india acquired roughly 2 million tonnes of it. indian firms are now purchasing coal at a discount of $12 to $15 per tonne compared to new imports from Australia. This has put the Chinese in a bind. Now, the indian side has agreed to regular imports, resulting in a reduction with the Chinese. australia and india, together with Japan, have banded together to strategically isolate China.
