Vaccination is the only weapon!!!

Vaccination is the only weapon currently in our hands in the fight against corona that should be put on hold without delay.

Vaccination of people over 60 years of age in tamil Nadu is still reluctant as the Omicron is spreading rapidly in various states. Elderly people across the country have been given priority since march 1, the next step for pioneers in vaccinating. It is a matter of concern that even 50% of the people in tamil Nadu have not achieved complete vaccination protection in ten months.

In tamil Nadu, an average of 84.42% have given the first dose and 55.01% have taken the second dose. But those over the age of 60 have paid less than the state average in the segment.

Total population -57891000 of which first dose - 48873395- (84.42%) second dose - 31847624 (55.01%). And population over 60 - 1,04,19,000 of which the first dose - 61,53,206 (59%) and the second dose - 43,56,126 (42%).

It is the elderly who have been most affected by the corona in the last two waves. As of the end of august this year, 34,878 people in tamil Nadu had died of the corona. 35% of deaths occurred between the ages of 41 and 60 and 7% between the ages of 21 and 40. Elderly people are vaccinated in tamil Nadu at a lower percentage than the average number of people who have been vaccinated on average.

Rajiv gandhi government Hospital chief THERANIRAJAN says the main reason for not getting vaccinated is the perception that the elderly do not need to be vaccinated because they do not go outside. To avoid this notion, he says, we need to get vaccinated, realizing that the only way of vaccinating can prevent corona deaths. It is seen as a social problem that a large number of the elderly are not vaccinated despite adequate awareness and facilities to vaccinate. It is the responsibility of every child to ensure that adults in the home are vaccinated.
