Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S jagan Mohan reddy has come down a little and gone out of his way to soothe the agitating staff, ostensibly recognizing that if state government workers go on unlimited period of strike from february 7, the state administration will come to a standstill. After witnessing the enormous attendance of protesting workers at the vijayawada event, jagan has realised that the government's obstinacy will have far-reaching ramifications for the state's economy.

As a result, the chief minister has gone out of his way to placate the striking workers. The five-member panel of ministers and employees had conversations with members of the steering group of the employees' organizations till late friday night based on his recommendations. According to reports, the jagan government has promised to maintain the previous house Rent Allowance percentages.

The administration may also reverse its decision to eliminate city compensating allowance and update pay scales every five years, as well as increase the additional quantum for seniors over the age of 70. Employees have demanded that they be granted at least 27% fitment, similar to the interim relief, but the administration has decided against it. However, it has agreed to remove the idea to alter interim relief from staff compensation.
