Every year on 30 July, Friendship Day is celebrated all over the world. When it comes to family, it is our first school. Friends are the extension of this school. Friends are the companions of happiness and sorrow in the journey of life. A friend teaches us to believe in ourselves. Those who inform about light and darkness are also friends. July 30 is the day to celebrate the international celebration of this friendship.


When was the international Friendship Day started?

International Friendship Day is celebrated on 30 July. It was first started in 1958 by the World Friendship Crusade. In 2011, this day was recognized by the General assembly of the United Nations as the formally international Day of Friendship. In many countries including india celebrate Friendship Day on first sunday of August. Accordingly, Friendship Day is celebrated in india on 7th August.

What is the history of international Friendship Day?

According to history, the Greeting Card National Association started celebrating Friendship Day in 1920, before the proposal of the World Friendship Crusade. The whole idea was to increase the sales of greeting cards, but then people did not take it hand-in-hand. In 1930, the famous card company Hallmark started celebrating Friendship Day again on august 2, but over time it also disappeared.

According to the United Nations, the purpose of international Day of Friendship is to promote peace and social harmony. There are many problems in our world like poverty, violence and human rights. To deal with these problems and crises, it is very important to be together with each other. Friendship is the simplest example of this.
