After 38 years of this incident, the body of Lancenayak Chandrashekhar has been recovered from the middle of the snow. His body was handed over to his family with respect.
When the information about finding the body of Lance Nayak Chandrashekhar, who was martyred 38 years ago, reached his house, once again the wounds of the family were fresh. His body is being sent to his home in Haldwani. He was originally from almora district of Uttarakhand, in 1971, Chandrashekhar, who was recruited in the Kumaon regiment of the army, was martyred in Operation Meghdoot.

On May 29, there was a heavy avalanche on the siachen glacier and the entire battalion got buried in the snow. When Chandrashekhar's body could not be found, he was declared a martyr.Now 38 years later, after the body of Chandrashekhar was found, his wife was informed by phone. On Sunday, SDM manish Kumar Singh and many other officers reached Chandrashekhar's house. It has been told that by monday evening his body will reach Haldwani. The last rites of the martyr will be performed with full state honours.
