Nitin Desai Suicide: Famous art director Nitin Desai committed suicide on wednesday i.e. 2 August. He committed suicide by hanging himself at ND Studio in Karjat near Mumbai. Nitin Desai designed the sets of films like Hum dil De Chuke Sanam, Lagaan, Devdas, Jodhaa Akbar and prem Ratan Dhan Payo. He has also received the National Film Award for Best Art Direction four times.
Nitin Desai, the owner of ND Studios, has worked as an art director in 250 ad films, 180 films and 100 tv shows in his career.
He has been honored with 4 National 9 Filmfare Awards for his contribution to the film industry.
Nitin Desai holds the record for building the largest film set in India.
The advertising agency had alleged fraud
In May, an advertising agency accused Desai of cheating him of Rs 51.7 lakh. The agency had said that despite getting the work done for three months, Desai had not paid the money. However, Nitin Desai denied these allegations. He had said that the agency had made similar allegations against him in the past as well.
