40 Years of Teaching French - French Teacher gets Chevalier Award

Professor nalini J. Thambi of the university of Pondicherry's French Department has been awarded the Chevalier Award, France's highest accolade, for her 40 years of teaching French. The Chevalier Prize, the French government's highest award for excellence in the teaching and education of the French language and culture, has been given to nalini J. Thambi, professor, Department of French, university of Newfoundland, for over 40 years. 

Lees Talpo Pare, the French Ambassador to pondicherry, presented the award. professor of the French Department nalini J. Thampi, who spoke on behalf of the university and the French Embassy, excelled in the fields of academic integration and women's rights in the French language, france, and India. It is customary for the French government to give the highest award to achievers in various fields such as art and education.

She has a doctorate in French. Under his initiative, ten students from pondicherry have gone to france and six from the university of paris have gone to pondicherry as part of a five-year integrated programme that brings together Indo-French students. For the past 40 years, she has excelled at teaching French. In 2009, she and Sathasivan co-authored a French-Hindi dictionary. She is also the university of Pondicherry's first female dean.
