China, Finland, Singapore... global education system?

India's education system is facing a big crisis today. Many new private engineering colleges, IITs and universities have opened, but the level of education is falling. The students who are coming out of college after completing their studies do not have the skills that are needed to work in today's companies. The result is that the students get a degree, but they are unable to get a job.

According to the All india Survey on Higher education, there are 1043 universities and 42,343 colleges. But the truth is that many of these colleges do not have recognition. According to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), about 30% of colleges and universities are running without recognition. The situation is even worse in engineering colleges. Only 45% of the colleges meet the industry standards.

According to the report of 'Global Skills Gaps Measurement and Monitoring Report of ILO 2023', 47% of indian employees are underqualified for their jobs. Meaning, they have a job but do not have the necessary skills and qualifications for that work. At the same time, this figure is even higher in the case of women. 62% of women are such who do not have the necessary skills for their job.

In such a situation, india can learn a lot from the education model of other countries of the world. Every country has its own system, its own strengths and weaknesses.

Lack of teachers in india, laggingbehind in research too

Today, many colleges have opened, but there is a huge shortage of teachers to teach. In many colleges, teacher positions have been lying vacant for years. More than 30% of teacher positions are vacant in 45 central universities across the country.

At the same time, it is also far behind in terms of spending on research. Our country spends only 0.7% of its GDP on research, while china spends 2.4% and America spends 3.5%. We are also behind in terms of patents. In 2023, 4 lakh 67 thousand 918 patents were filed in india, while about 77 lakh patents were filed in china and 9 lakh 45 thousand 571 patents were filed in America.
